2015 NRL Grand Final Preview

October 1st, 2015

The 2015 NRL Grand Final will be played out at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium from 7:15pm AEST on Sunday, October 4th.

For the first time ever, the 2015 NRL Grand Final will be a Queensland Derby after the Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys won through to the game’s grandest stage.

The Broncos have no played in a decider since the defeat of the heavily-favoured Melbourne Storm in 2006, but are interestingly yet to lose a Grand Final; having taken out each of their six appearances since their admission to the competition in 1988.

For the Cowboys, the 2015 NRL Grand Final will figure as only their second appearance in a decider and they are one of only a small handful of clubs yet to lift the trophy, having suffered a 30-16 loss to Wests Tigers in their only prior appearance in 2005.

The Broncos have been one of the league’s benchmarks all season, and appeared more than ready for a return to the big time from almost the first week of competition.

The return of master coach Wayne Bennett to the helm has undoubtedly lifted the club back to their former status as a competition juggernaut, whilst the unearthing of slick halves combination Ben Hunt and Anthony Milford has played a key role in their success.

Suffering a couple of disappointing losses to begin their season this year, the Cowboys took a firm stranglehold on tournament in winning 13-consecutive matches through the middle of the year; shattering their previous club record and announcing they are more than capable of mixing it with the best.

Led by the ever dangerous Johnathan Thurston, the addition of Michael Morgan in five-eight and Jake Granville as hooker has completed an exceptionally strong spine and the team would not look out of place posting their maiden competition success on Sunday night.
